About One Thing Every Day

Fueled on potatoes cooked in every imaginable way and Golden Girls DVDs, Ellen Thompson’s taking on all the things (big and small) that scare the heck out of her. While in the process, she’s getting some of today’s most influential voices in the music (punk, hardcore, indie), arts, action sports and DIY scenes to spill experiences that have scared the heck out of them … for the better.  Because after all, acting in the face of fear is another way of encouraging growth.
Mad props to Eleanor Roosevelt by the way, that woman had some serious advice: “Do one thing every day that scares you.”

About Author

Ellen Thompson is the senior editor of the music and culture publication, Wonka Vision Magazine, where for the past five years she’s been covering community organizing and activism issues affecting independent music and the arts. Somebody’s gotta keep track of Billy Bragg, right? Ellen is also a contributing writer for Inked Magazine and the New York City newsblog Gothamist, and a fact checker, researcher and occasional writer for Nylon and Nylon Guys magazines. Somebody’s gotta make sure Zooey Deschanel’s starring roles are accurately attributed, right? But before writing her way into magazine mastheads , Ellen got her hands dirty covering the crime and education beats for the New York City weekly newspaper Queens Tribune and then cleaned them off serving as managing editor for Long Islander Newspapers, a chain of three weekly newspapers on that picturesque Island of Long.
